SwamiJ.com

Emails or letters often come that express gratitude for the SwamiJ.com site (and for me personally). These are most heartwarming and sincerely appreciated, as they serve to validate the goal of the site to present the principles and practices in simple, understandable and beneficial ways, while not compromising quality or depth. Below are a few of those kind notes. Thank you for visiting, learning from, and enjoying the site.

In loving service,

Swami Jnaneshvara

I recently discovered your website and almost levitated with joy! Although I have practiced and studied many of these concepts/techniques in a spotty fashion over the years, I have never seen such a clear and organized overview of how they all fit together.

Words of thanks are inadequate to express my gratitude for the effort you have made in getting these teachings "out there." Your work has helped me immediately. I feel that I was guided directly to this material--as promised by my Inner Teacher--just when I needed it most! I am sure that Swami Rama is smiling down on you--and me! It has always been true for me that when I could not "go to the mountain" the mountain found a way to come to me. Here we go again!

I am sure you are reaching many others like me, and thus you are fulfilling your mission every day. May blessings return to you a thousand fold!

I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that your website has helped me understand the nuances of Yoga clearly. Many of the concepts that I have struggled with have fallen into place in a much more structured way. Thank you so much for making Yoga more understandable.... I have been fortunate in my Yoga training to have had teachers focusing on the depth and traditions of Yoga, not just on the asanas. To the best of my ability I bring this in to my classes, but have had some difficulty explaining to students how everything "fits" together.

I've looked at your wonderful web site. It's a treasure-house of information on both Sanatana Dharma and Yoga. You're doing truly wonderful work in educating people about this profound, but often too little truly understood, tradition. I wish you continued success, Swamiji, in all your endeavors and important work. With your blessings, I pray to someday perform a fraction of your service to Sanatana Dharma.

Thank you for the videos you've assembled. Years ago I turned away from formal study of Indian Philosophy. The many long and strange words seemed a wall too high to scale for me. But there was something in the word 'samskara.' It seemed to contain more meaning than I could penetrate and had nothing comparable in English. When I came across your videos (Meditation Visualized, and, Mandukya Upanishad) I watched again and again with my mouth just hanging open in astonishment. These video explanations are of highest value, truly a treasure. I've read so many, many volumes. To think that I could have gained what I have by watching two, ten minute videos beggars the mind. In fact, if I wanted to sit down with Guru and plan out my whole life in advance, I could not have picked a more auspicious moment to have placed these two videos in my path.

I just wanted to take a moment to let you know how much I appreciate your site and the manner in which you have set it up--clear and succinct, without any hint of religious tones. I use it as a daily reference, most especially when I find myself becoming distracted or digressing in my personal studies.

I just surfed into your website, and what an amazing thing it is. I don't know much about yoga and meditation, and Indian-based spirituality, but I do know that the field is incredibly rich and potentially confusing to a western mind. However, your site helps tremendously--it's *by far* the most coherent, well structured and comprehensive explanation of the subjects I've ever seen. Very well done!

I would like to congratulate you on the website. It's packed with useful information for the aspirant. There's so much there that one needn't use a search engine.

I just wanted to thank you for the excellent Yoga Sutra translation on your website! The word-by-word section for each sutra makes it more comprehensible. You make it very clear, what is translation and what is commentary--very useful for the reader. But the best is that you use the internet and its capacity to put hyperlinks in this quite complex text--excellent idea! Thank you for your extensive website and your clear and clever texts--they inspire me each day and make my own work much easier.

Today I had the good fortune to spend some time on your well-done website. In particular, I really appreciated the section Coordinating the Four Functions of the Mind and your thinking on the issue of "killing the ego...." It was a delight to read someone express the view of making friends with the ego.

I wanted to thank you for the wonderful and enlightening info on your website. I recently have begun to become acquainted with the writings of Sri Swami Rama. They are remarkable for their clarity and practicality--the mark of a true Master (that is what "they" say, anyway!). He must have been something else. Thank you again for your service and may you and your work be blessed and bear fruit.

Thank you for what I feel is your wonderful and wonderfully balanced presentation of the path, both in your writings and in the exceptionally balanced vibrations I feel you add to this world. Thank you, too, for your meticulous efforts on your website with interpretations, environment, and caring to be very clear about what many Sanskrit spiritual writings really say in English and all things of that nature and that are evident in your works.

Thank you for your great website and all the effort you have put into it. There is so much information on it that I would like to explore in depth.

Other comments

While the vast majority of comments I receive are kind and appreciative of me for the work I do, some are not. It seems that it is only fair to post some of these as well. It is interesting to note that many of the negative comments come from people who are upset by my pointing out the nature of traditional yoga in contract to the modern alterations of yoga.

You are bereft of compassion and love.

Fuck you. Fuck atman. Fuck brahman.

You are not a swami.

Your opinions are very polarized and one sided.

You are quick to judge.

You are a naysayer.

Swami J is rude.

You are inflexible.

This site is devoted to presenting the ancient Self-Realization path of the Tradition of the Himalayan masters in simple, understandable and beneficial ways, while not compromising quality or depth. The goal of our sadhana or practices is the highest Joy that comes from the Realization in direct experience of the center of consciousness, the Self, the Atman or Purusha, which is one and the same with the Absolute Reality. This Self-Realization comes through Yoga meditation of the Yoga Sutras, the contemplative insight of Advaita Vedanta, and the intense devotion of Samaya Sri Vidya Tantra, the three of which complement one another like fingers on a hand. We employ the classical approaches of Raja, Jnana, Karma, and Bhakti Yoga, as well as Hatha, Kriya, Kundalini, Laya, Mantra, Nada, Siddha, and Tantra Yoga. Meditation, contemplation, mantra and prayer finally converge into a unified force directed towards the final stage, piercing the pearl of wisdom called bindu, leading to the Absolute.
